Orient Men’s CEM65004B Black Mako Stainless Steel Automatic Watch with Black Rubber Band Review

Orient Men's CEM65004B Black Mako Stainless Steel Automatic Watch with Black Rubber Band

  • Imported
  • Stainless steel watch featuring bold black dial with rotating bezel and day/date window
  • 41-mm stainless steel case with mineral dial window
  • Japanese-automatic movement with analog display
  • Ridged rubber band with logo and buckle closure
  • Water resistant to 200 m (660 ft): In general, suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not scuba diving

This diver series is the most popular collection that Orient has to offer. A feature that makes this model into a professional diver watch is its water-resistance of up to 200 meters. This is perfect for you if you enjoy scuba diving on your vacations to Hawaii. You will notice that this watch combines the timeless design of the dial with the sporty look of the bezel to create a work of art.

This collection of diver watch is all mechanical. What this means is that it runs on the spring of the watch. When the diver watch is worn, it will automatically store power in the spring. Hence the name, automatic watches.

The dial for this watch comes with both day and date indicators located at the 3 o’clock position. The day indicator is adjusted by unscrewing the push-button, located on the 2 o’clock position, and pushing the button for the specific day. The date indicator is adjusted by the crown (time-setting piece) located on the 3 o’clock position.

This watch has a two-level crown which adjusts both the time and the date. The 1st level corresponds to the time while the 2nd level corresponds to the date. To adjust either level, you must first loosen the screw-down crown. The purpose of a screw-down crown is so that water does not enter the case. Not only does the crown have shoulders for added protection, but it also has the official orient logo engraved on the crown.

Another attribute that adds to the value of this watch is its unidirectional bezel. The purpose of this feature is so that you can adjust the time bezel to the minute hand to see how many minutes have gone by. The time hands, as well as the hour indicators, are both luminescent. This allows for the owner to view the time during the evening.

The band for this series comes in either stainless steel metal or black urethane. In the metal band variation, the links come in matte finish. You will notice the double-locking clasp and how it gives added protection so that the watch does not come off inadvertently. Unlike the metal band, the urethane variation comes in a deployment clasp.

Since this collection is so popular, Orient offers a total of 8 variations to this watch: 4 with metal bands and 4 with urethane bands. Within the metal bands, there are different dial and bezel colors: black dial on black bezel, blue dial on blue bezel, blue dial on blue/orange bezel, and orange dial on black bezel. Likewise, the urethane band variation has different dial and bezel colors: black dial on black bezel, blue dial on blue/orange bezel, blue dial on blue bezel, and orange dial on black bezel.

Orient

With its roots dating back to 1901, Orient Watch has specialized in the manufacture and growth of mechanical timepieces. Since 1950, Orient has been at the forefront of the production of mechanical watches in Japan. When it comes to watchmaking, Orient does not have an obscure history: Orient has been producing mechanical watches for more than 60 years. It is one of the top three watch manufacturers from Japan and produces 2 million watches per year. Frankly, it may be the biggest watch brand you’ve never heard of. All of Orient’s movements are exclusively made in Japan and no iteration in manufacturing is outsourced. The implicit value of possessing an Orient watch is that the only way to enjoy its tremendous quality is through ownership.

Japan

Orient prides itself on the premise that its timepieces are a “watchmaker’s watch”– a no frills mechanical watch that is robust and trustworthy.

  • Our online reputation suggests that an Orient watch is reliable out of the box. This can be attributed to Orient’s undying dedication to mechanical watches.
  •

  • In the eye of the Quartz Revolution in the 1970s, the other top Japanese brands went on to predominantly manufacture quartz, while Orient remained focused on its mechanical movements. And while Orient does produce quartz watches, all movements are supplied by its parent company.
  •

  • So what’s the difference between quartz and mechanical? Despite the obvious difference in moving parts, the short answer is seen in the smooth sweeping second hand of a mechanical watch versus the choppy tick of a quartz movement.

Mechanical Movement

As an in-house movement producer, Orient joins a short list of watch companies that actually manufacture their movements in-house and exclusively for their own use. In the industry, it is highly uncommon that a company produces their own movements in-house, and by doing so Orient Watch can ensure that the quality of their wristwatches are held to the highest standards— Orient’s watches have often been lauded for their rich styling, dependability, and tremendous value.

Orient Men’s ‘Nami’ Japanese Automatic Stainless Steel and Leather Diving Watch, Color:Black (Model: FAC09001B0) Review

Orient Men's 'Nami' Japanese Automatic Stainless Steel and Leather Diving Watch, Color:Black (Model: FAC09001B0)

  • Mineral crystal
  • Unidirectional bezel
  • Japanese-automatic Movement
  • Case Diameter: 46mm
  • Water resistant 200m (660ft): in general, suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not diving

About Orient:

Founded in 1950, Orient Watch has been providing the world with unique and distinctive timepieces. Today, the Orient brand is cherished by customers in more than 70 countries and continues to hone its craft by developing the mechanical movement. To date, Orient has developed over 40 unique mechanical watch calibers, and its factories in Northern Japan produce over 1.1 million watch movements per year.

Orient prides itself on the premise that its timepieces are a “watchmaker’s watch”– a no frills mechanical watch that is robust and trustworthy. Our online reputation suggests that an Orient watch is reliable out of the box, and our use of a ball bearing system in our automatic watches ensure that the watch will start running with little effort. All of this can be attributed to Orient’s undying dedication to the mechanical watch. The implicit value of possessing an Orient watch is that the only way to enjoy its tremendous quality is through ownership.

Mechanical watches are considered to offer a number of advantages:

  • Interesting and artistic features in which time the time ticks off through the combined work of precision parts.

  • Efficient capturing of the energy of motion generated by daily activities.

  • Functionality for an extended period through part replacement, with an added emotional value through successive generations of families passing down valued watches.

The Nami is our refreshed take on a classic diver design. Compared to the rest of the diver line, it stands alone stylistically: We’ve opted for longer, rectangular hour markers and a straightforward set of pencil hands. The chapter ring is numbered in lieu of hash marks. And instead of using a sloped bezel like the Mako and Ray, the Nami employs a flat bezel. The interesting thing about the glossy transparent aspect of the bezel insert is that it’s also slightly transparent, which allows it to really glow in natural light. The Nami’s 46mm case is also noteworthy for a number of reasons. “Nami” is the Japanese word for “wave”, and it’s only fitting that the case supports 200m of water resistance (which is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and surfing). Like last seasons’ M-Force Bravo, the Nami does not feature crown guards, which paves the way for an even cleaner design. Now, the lugs are a completely different story. They’re sloped and heavily angled, with each surface alternating in brushed and polished metals. The lugs are sloped at a steeper angle for a reason: although the watch is relatively large, the combination of a sloped lug and fitted strap provides additional comfort and a more natural look on the wrist.

Orient Men’s ‘Mako XL’ Japanese Automatic Stainless Steel Diving Watch, Color Silver-Toned (Model: FEM75001MW) Review

Orient Men's 'Mako XL' Japanese Automatic Stainless Steel Diving Watch, Color Silver-Toned (Model: FEM75001MW)

  • Imported
  • Round watch featuring corrugated bezel, orange dial, and day and date window at 3 o’clock
  • 44 mm stainless steel case with mineral dial window
  • Automatic self-wind movement with analog display
  • Stainless steel band with foldover push-button clasp with safety closure
  • Water resistant to 200 m (660 ft)

The Mako XL was created as a response to the community’s request for a larger Mako watch. As the name suggests, the Mako XL is an upsized Mako, measuring 3mm wider (44.5mm) and a third of a millimeter thicker (13.3mm). Rather than recreate the popular Mako design on a larger canvas, the design was tweaked, with bar hour markers and a 60-unit scale bezel that was devoid of a lume pip. The spear-shaped hour and minute hands and lollipop seconds hand are also hallmarks of the design. Above all, it maintains the signature diver features, including a unidirectional diver-style bezel, 200m of water resistance, strong lume, and a screwed case back, to name a few.

Orient 46mm M-Force Air Diver Automatic Watch with Power Reserve EL03004B Review

Orient 46mm M-Force Air Diver Automatic Watch with Power Reserve EL03004B

  • Imported
  • Power Reserve
  • Rotating Bezel

The newest model from the highly regarded Orient M-force collection comes in the form of the Orient M-Force EL03005Y0 “Air Diver”. With its rugged design and essential functions, the M-Force “Air Diver” is worthy of being a part of the rich M-Force heritage. The black dial is very easy to read; it is complete with luminous hour markers and hands. The offset power reserve indicator hand also has luminescent material as well. The stainless steel bezel maintains precision at 120 clicks and is very legible due to the stark black and white contrast. The case measures at 46mm wide and 13.3mm thick. This is due in part to the implementation of Orient’s own special structure which has earned this watch ISO certification in three areas: water resistance (200m), shock resistance and anti-magnetism. The structure increases the shock resistance of the case in order to continually keep accurate time. The movement in the EL03004B is self-winding, hand winding and hacking (wherein the seconds hand will stop when the crown is put in its second position). The M-Force “Air Diver” comes conveniently mounted with an Orient branded urethane strap for flexibility and comfort. The watch comes in an “M-Force” Box with instruction manual. Features Movement: Orient 40N5A Automatic (self-winding and hand windable) Case: Stainless Steel, 46mm x 13.3mm thick Back: Solid screw-in back Crystal: Scratch-resistant sapphire Band: Orient rubber dive strap with buckle closure, 23mm Water Resistant: 200 meters Warranty: 1 Year
